The Wake
November 1 @ 5:00 pm - 9:00 pm
The Wake is an intentional gathering centred on the rich tapestry of rituals surrounding death, burial, remembrance, and mortality across cultures and histories.
Gathering in the style of a traditional wake, we come together to break bread, share food, and engage in open conversation about death rituals—from ancestral customs and funeral traditions to modern death care practices and personal ceremonies.
What to Expect:
- Shared Potluck Table: Bring a food dish, family recipe, or snack to share with the room. Food has long been an integral part of death rituals and community gatherings across the globe. Beverages will be provided.
- Conversations on Ritual: An open, curious space to discuss cultural death traditions, mourning attire, memorial altars, death doulas, and how we mark life transitions.
- Communal Gathering: A relaxed, candlelit environment for learning, sharing perspectives, and exploring our relationship with mortality.
